PROFESSIONAL SERVICE AND
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Are you looking for a way to connect with and help other ITEEA members? Do you have valuable skills and perspectives? There is much to be gained, both personally and professionally, through getting involved. Here’s why you should consider it.

  • Connect with people – Whether you’re serving as an ITEEA committee member or running for a position on the Board of Directors, you never know whom you might meet.  A positive impression may turn into a job opportunity down the road.  And, you’ll develop stronger interpersonal skills that will serve you well in anything you do.
  • Enrich yourself personally – Experiences like working in the ITEEA Resource Center or being part of a Local Planning Committee for the annual conference will help you grow and assist a cause that’s important to you.  As an added benefit, it will show your employer that you’re interested in using your skills to help others.  A well-rounded person is always a more desirable hire.
  • Affect change – If ITEEA is to grow and change, then we must rely on members to make that happen.  Contribute to the success of the annual conference.  Work on one of the committees.  Serve on ITEEA’s Board of Directors.  Whatever you choose to do will create a positive impact.
  • Gain experience outside of your job responsibilities – Is there something you’ve always wanted to do but you aren’t qualified for at this point in your career?  Do you need more experience in an area before you’re ready for a promotion?  If the answer is “yes,” volunteering may be the answer.
  • Enhance your professional image – Let people know that you know your stuff.  Your unique combination of experience and education provide you with a background and perspective that is unlike anyone else’s.  Share what you know.  You’ll benefit while helping others.

ITEEA, your professional organization, has opportunities for talented, willing professionals to share their expertise. Review the volunteer opportunities at ITEEA below. If you have questions about any of our volunteer opportunities please email mwiley@iteea.org or call (703)860-2100.
