DISTINGUISHED TECHNOLOGY EDUCATOR (DTE) REVIEW BOARD
Primary Responsibility
To offer special recognition to those educators who have demonstrated a high level of competence and ethical performance in technology education over a substantial period of time.
Length of Service: three years
Assigned Tasks
- Identify individuals to be considered as DTE recipients and encourage their participation. DTE information can be found at http://www.iteaconnect.org/Awards/awarddte.htm in the members only section.
- Administer the policies for recognizing recipients for the DTE recognition.
- Provide names of selected DTEs to Executive Director for recognition at the annual conference.
- Review DTE criteria, scoring sheet, and application to ensure an exact match.
- Prepare announcement to be placed in TTT soliciting applications.
JOURNAL OF TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION (JTE) MANAGEMENT BOARD
Primary Responsibilities
Serves as the Management Board for the Journal of Technology Education.
Assigned Tasks
- Review the performance of the existing editor and publisher for the JTE and make the decision, when applicable, to renew or not to renew the existing editing/publishing contract based on the performance record for the previous two years.
- Solicit proposals, when necessary, for editing and publishing the Journal when an existing contract is not being adhered to or in September before the existing contract expires.
- Approve the subscription rates for the JTE.
- Meet during the ITEA Conference “Committee and Review/Management Boards worksession” to carry out business related to the following:
- Review the past year's income and expenditures against projected budget.
- Review upcoming year's goals and budget.
- Review the last year's annual editor's report which will include an analysis of the number of articles submitted, rejected, in process, approved, and published during the past year.
- Review the last year's subscription and circulation report.
- Review the promotional strategy being used.
TECHNOLOGY AND CHILDREN (T&C) REVIEW BOARD
Primary Responsibilities
Helps determine editorial content for Technology and Children.
Assigned Tasks
- Provide advisory functions that include the identification of themes, types of articles, potential authors, new features, and sources of photos.
- Maintain a list of confirmed authors for the next twenty-four months.
- Approve at least two (2) technology education program articles for publication in each issue of Technology and Children.
- Solicit articles and other educational materials that will enhance technology teaching.
- Assist writer/authors in the process of developing articles for publication in the T&C through a mentor model.
- Work with ITEA Journal Editor-in-Chief to ensure that articles are submitted for publication in accordance with the publishing deadline and any other established criteria.
THE TECHNOLOGY TEACHER (TTT)
REVIEW BOARD
Primary Responsibilities
Serves as the referee board for The Technology Teacher.
Assigned Tasks
- Provide advisory functions that include the identification of themes, type of articles, potential authors, new features, and sources of photos.
- Maintain a list of confirmed authors for the next twenty-four months.
- Approve the referee of two (2) articles about technology education to be published in each issue of the TTT.
- Solicit articles and other educational materials, which will enhance technology teaching.
- Assist writers/authors in the process of developing articles for publication in the TTT/TTTe through a mentor model.
- Work with ITEA Journal Editor-in-Chief to ensure that articles are submitted for publication in accordance with the publishing deadline and any other established criteria.
TECHNOLOGY SA
Primary Responsibilities
Serves as the referee board for Technology SA.
Assigned Tasks The following process and criteria will be used in consideration of the submitted research papers.
- Paper must be based on advancing thought and practice in technology, innovation, design, and/or engineering education.
- Student must be enrolled in an M.S., Ed.S., Ed.D., Ph.D., or re-certification/licensure program of study that advances TIDE education at the time the paper is submitted.
- All authors must be graduate students at time of authorship.
- Manuscript must be reviewed and signed by the student's faculty advisor. The advisor cannot be a co-author.
- Paper must be submitted in electronic form to: kdelapaz@iteaconnect.org.
The referee process will center on the following criteria:
- Importance/impact to the research-base for teaching TIDE education.
- Contribution to philosophy/theory, research, or practice will be considered that is of meaningful interest and application to advancing TIDE education.
- Paper must be written in a scholarly manner with sound research writing skills evident using APA citations.
- Papers beyond 15 pages (including tables and references) will not be accepted.
