Designing Human Exploration: People, Education, and Technology

 

STANDARDS-BASED CURRICULAR UNITS FOR ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, AND HIGH SCHOOL

As part of ITEA's Center to Advance the Teaching of Technology and Science, HEP is developing curricular units for elementary, middle, and high school. The units are stand-alone, but they are also designed to coordinate with Engineering byDesign™ (EbD™) curricular offerings.

Phase I – 3 Units

Theme: Living & Working on the Lunar Surface

Focus: Energy and Power

  • Grade 4: Moon Power (10 Days)
  • Grade 6: Human Exploration (18 Days)
  • Grades 11/12: NASA Project Management
    (28 Days)

Theme: Living & Working Beyond Earth’s Atmosphere

Focus: Transportation

  • Grade 7: Creating a Space Exploration Infrastructure (16 Days)
  • Grade 8: Space Transportation: Re-Shooting the Moon (10-15 Days)
  • Grade 9: NASA: Moving Cargo (27 Days)
  • Grades 10-12: Transportation and Space: Reuse and Recycle (13 Days)
