FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
for ITEA's 71st Annual Conference in
Louisville, Kentucky on March 26-28, 2009
FAQ information will be posted here when it becomes available. Please check back.
What hotels have been reserved? What are
the rates?
Three hotels have room blocks reserved for ITEA attendees: the "The Marriott Lousiville Downtown" ($149) (official ITEA Headquarters Hotel), the "Springhill Suites" ($129) and the "Fairfield Inn and Suites" ($109). See Housing.
Can I make my hotel reservations now?
Not yet, housing will open in early Fall. Please check back. See Housing
Why is the hotel cut-off date of February 13, 2009 important?
After this date, you cannot be guaranteed a room in the ITEA housing block. You take both the risk of not getting a room, or paying a much higher price than the special rates negotiated on your behalf by ITEA.
Will I be refunded if I have to cancel my hotel reservation?
Yes, so long as you cancel within 48 hours of your date of arrival. Otherwise, you will be charged one night’s room and tax.
I am bringing my family with me; are there planned
activities for them to participate in?
The conference does not provide planned family activities, but there is much for families to do in Louisville. Check out http://www.gotolouisville.com/, or check with your hotel concierge for suggestions.
What does my registration fee include?
Your registration includes: admission to the opening general sessions and all professional development learning sessions. It also includes the Welcome Reception on Wednesday night, and the lunch in the exhibit hall on Friday. Additional breakfast, lunch, dinner and tours are available for you to participate in for additional fees. Check the ITEA registration form for these costs.
Where do I find information about the Council programming
and their special sessions?
There is a heading called “Council and other programming” on the conference guide on the ITEA website. Click on the logo you want, and their complete program of events will be visible.
What is happening in the evenings that I can participate
in?
Wednesday evening there is a Welcome Reception that is open to all registered attendees. Friday evening there is a private event for ITEA attendees at the Kentucky Derby Museum located at the famous Churhill Downs. Please check the Preliminary Conference Program for full details.
What is the best way to make my travel arrangements to the meeting at the best rates?
We recommend that you secure your air travel as soon as possible in order to receive the best rates and the schedule that best suits your needs. Louisville is not dominated by any particular airline so fares are very competitive. Be sure to check with Southwest Airlines who offer terrific fares to this market. You can access this information on the Travel page on the conference website.
What is the dress code?
Louisville is, generally, a very casual city. The conference dress is business casual, comfortable. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.
Will all programs/sessions be held at the convention center?
The General Sessions, tradeshow, and Professional Development Learning Sessions will be held at the convention center. You will spend most of your day from 9-5 at the center. The on-site conference program will have specific details regarding meeting room locations. Morning breakfast programs, lunches and evening events will be held at the Marriott. EbD labs will also be held at the Marriott.
Will transportation be provided during the conference?
The conference hotels are within walking distance of the convention center, so no shuttle transportation will be provided.
